Post Hurricane Lowell

As Kauai navigates life post Hurricane Lowell, I find myself feeling so grateful to be a part of this beautiful community that rises up and supports each other in hard times. The road to recovery is ongoing, but it is inspiring to see how people on this island rise to the occasion. Neighbors checking on each other, sharing food and supplies, local businesses giving out hot meals.

Roads have been impacted. Homes were damaged. Families are working hard to regain a sense of normalcy in the wake of such a devastating natural disaster. But our community is resilient, and people are showing up day after day – whether it be volunteers, county workers, help that is being flown in from neighbor islands. There is plenty of hard work ahead, but we will rebuild.

If you’d like to help, there are many organizations doing good work on the ground here on Kauai. And if you can’t donate, even just sharing these resources with others helps. Here’s a few –

Malama Kauai – Direct support to families affected by the storm.

Kauai Food Bank – Providing food and other essential resources island-wide.

Lahui Foundation – Supporting families and communities impacted by Hurricane Lowell. Providing emergency supplies, water, food, and other critical resources.

Storm Kokua – A statewide Hawaiʻi Mutual Aid Network initiative, bringing direct aid to families affected by Hurricane Lowell.

A big mahalo to everyone that has been helping, donating, and being a part of getting our island back on its feet.
